Dusa sebi bira Drustvo
I — zatvara Vrata svoj
Preuzvisenoj Vecini
Njoj nenazocnoj.
Kocija uz Ulaz ceka
Dusu to ne prijeci
Da je hladna i kad Car joj
Uz prostirku kleci.
Znam je, kada s odabranom
Jednom dusom krene
Ventil paznje zatvara se
Tvrdji je od stijene.
Emily Dickinson
(1830 - 1886)
L'Âme élit sa propre Société —
Ensuite — elle barre sa Porte —
Devant sa divine Majorité —
Pour nul autre d'aucune sorte —
Immuable — elle sait Carrosses — s'arreter —
Devant sa Herse retombée —
Immuable — quand viendrait a s'agenouiller
Meme un Empereur sur son Seuil —
Je l'ai connue — choisir d'une immense nation —
Quelqu'un —
Puis — refermer les Valves de son attention —
A Pierre —

The Soul selects her own Society —
Then — shuts the Door —
To her divine Majority —
Present no more —
Unmoved — she notes the Chariots — pausing —
At her low Gate —
Unmoved — an Emperor be kneeling
Upon her Mat —
I've known her — from an ample nation —
Choose One
Then — close the Valves of her attention —
Like Stone —
